Cala Cala Bianco 2024 is Massimiliano Calabretta’s tribute to daily drinkability without sacrificing the complexity of the Sicilian terroir. While the winery is legendary for its long-aged reds on Etna, this white (whose name in dialect means “goes down, goes down,” referring to its high drinkability) aims for pure freshness. It is a dynamic, saline, and vibrant wine that captures the energy of the Sicilian sun and the minerality of the dark volcanic soils.
On the Nose: It opens with fresh notes of medlar, white peach, and lemon zest, followed by hints of Mediterranean scrub (thyme and rosemary) and a subtle mineral vein.
In the Mouth: It is snappy, agile, and characterized by a beautiful marine sapidity. The finish is clean, persistent, and refreshing, with a zesty aftertaste reminiscent of Sicilian citrus groves.
