The 2023 Pecorino by Marramiero is a masterclass in how a “resurrected” ancient grape can reach levels of absolute elegance. Cultivated in the rolling hills of Rosciano, where the Majella mountains meet the Adriatic breezes, this wine captures the rugged yet refined spirit of the Abruzzo region. It is a white wine that surprises with its dual nature: a razor-sharp acidity that cleanses the palate and a rich, persistent body that allows it to pair beautifully with complex dishes.
Appearance: An intense straw yellow with brilliant golden highlights, reflecting the perfect ripeness of the fruit.
Nose: A rich and enveloping bouquet. You’ll find immediate notes of yellow stone fruits (peach and medlar), followed by white floral blossoms, aromatic Mediterranean herbs, and a distinct mineral streak reminiscent of wet stones.
Palate: Full-bodied and almost “meaty” on the palate, yet immediately refreshed by a sharp, cutting vein of acidity. The finish is long and savory, with a delightful return of fresh almond and citrus zest.
