Merlot is a dark blue wine grape variety, used both as a blending grape and for varietal wines. Along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, Merlot is one of the main grapes used in Bordeaux wine. It is grown in Veneto, Sicily, Tuscany, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige.
